International Field Schools

Yucatan Discovery and TTT, a private university located in downtown Merida, Yucatan have worked together since 1992 to assist international educational institutions – such as UCLA; Capilano University in Vancouver; NBCC and the University of New Brunswick – in creating field schools, professional development, volunteer, summer inter-session, and semester-long cultural and linguistic immersion programs. The international study programs offered at TTT are customised to fit the needs of each institution, and range in length from 10 days to a full semester.

Traditionally, the focus has been Anthropology, Archaeology, Latin American Studies, Spanish and Maya Language. However, Arts and Technology-centered infrastructure for Audio Engineering, Design and Music are also available.

Teaching space in AV-equipped, air-conditioned classrooms and labs; logistical and accommodations support; day trips, and excursions throughout the country can be coordinated through Yucatan Discovery, as can accommodation for the duration of the program. Home-stays with trusted local families are the most commonly used option, but hotels in every price range and short-stay apartments are also available in Merida.
